We Back
If I can’t enjoy Netflix Is A Joke, NO ONE CAN.
I’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to my sisters who graduated college the two weekends the Netflix Is A Joke festival was happening in Los Angeles. Knowing that going in, I decided to avoid the festival and its coverage like the plague in order to grieve properly.
Worth it. Slay Caroline and Camille xoxo
In other news, not sure if any of you Angelinos have been on the apartment hunt lately, but I feel like I’ve recently returned from ‘nam. And I haven’t even found a place yet! I was reminded in John Mulaney’s Everybody’s In LA (okay fine, I did watch a LITTLE Netflix Is A Joke. If you want my review of this, come and find me, I dare you) of the vast diversity in each of LA’s neighborhoods and how I’ll simply never belong in any of them. I just need to find the one I like the most at any given moment, and at that same moment, sign the damn lease I guess. I love this city, but my god she is chaotic. Send help.

Question of the day:
The only book left in library stand in my current neighborhood. I’ll miss it here.

Round Up:
Seth Meyers Lonely Island Podcast: OBSESSED. This is literally everything I’ve ever wanted. Seth and the gentlemen of The Lonely Island go through all their digital shorts, and in recent episodes, the making and favorite bits of their 2007 masterpiece Hot Rod. Andy Samberg transcends space and time as the ultimate likable guy in comedy, and if you don’t know Akiva and Jorma as well, you will fall in love with them after the first episode of this pod. I’d trust Seth Meyers with my life, honestly, and his comfortably chaotic conversations with his buddies make me feel like a part of the gang. Dreams do come true!
Hacks Season 3 somehow exceeded my expectations AGAIN! There are a lot of industry movies and tv shows out there, but very few feel as sharp, as honest, and as laugh out loud funny as Hacks. Paul, Lucia, and Jen have a good thing going here, and although they’ve recently been renewed for a 4th season, I’m sensing a Broad City-esque ending, where we’re left wanting more.
Hacks on Max (this rhymes)
Hannah Einbinder Everything Must Go special on Max. I got on the Hannah train from season one of Hacks, and her first special absolutely EXPLODES. Different from her Hacks character in ways I won’t spoil, Hannah surprised me big time with this one. Can’t wait to see more stand up from her.
**if you want to hear more Hannah backstory, I (obviously) recommend her Conan O’Brian Needs A Friend podcast episode from 2021.
Tires on Netflix. Even if you’re not a Shane Gillis fan, this is a fun and interesting watch and a different kind of workplace comedy. They’re not all meant to be mockumentaries, people!
THIS Hollywood Reporter Comedy Round Table. Nerd alert! I wish I had a mini Mike Birbiglia in my pocket to get me through my days.
