This is a subtle way of telling you my birthday is coming up

Round Up

Things I like right now + Upcoming releases I am stoked for

  • Conan O’ Brien was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and Netflix released the ceremony and I am telling you to watch it. Right on the heels of the Kennedy Center’s change of power, the ceremony is timely and topical, reminding us to let yourself laugh every once in a while. BUT THAT’S IT! IT’S NOT FUNNY!

  • Sarah Silverman has a new special, Post Mortem coming to Netflix on 5/20! I have seen her workshop this material countless times over the last year or so. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

  • Robby Hoffman on last week’s John Mulaney’s Everybody’s Live was on another level. I literally cannot shut up about this show and how it’s changing the face of Late Night in this day and age (see this article). In my humble opinion, this was their funniest episode to date.

  • Benito Skinner’s TV debut Overcompensating arrives 5/15 on Amazon Prime! Love a closeted college football player as much as I do? Give it a click! Interesting trajectory from digital world to digital TV world! Excited to watch.

  • Final season of Big Mouth on 5/23. The time has come. Curious to see how they wrap this thing up.

Sometimes, real life is funnier than any comedy we could ever dream of:

Old School

I recently listened to John Mulaney’s New In Town special on Spotify during my morning commute. Ready to feel old? That special came out 13 years ago. Seeing a comedian grow is such a unique experience. Definitely give it a watch or a listen if you haven’t seen bebe John in a while.

  • 5/24 Mae Martin Work in Progress

  • 5/29 Almost Hot: In 2015, Cailin received a Facebook message from a stranger who deemed her “almost hot.” A decade later, Cailin’s hour-long solo show cheekily interrogates and arbitrates one of our most pervasive but underexplored cultural concepts: hotness.
Watch Cailin attempt to close her “hotness gap” in front of a live audience - before it’s too late! The show is thought-provoking, witty, and dare we say… (almost) hot?
The show is performed and written by Cailin Lowry and directed by Erin Lowry.

JUST THE TIP
