We're okay!

And other musings for the end of 2024

This was a week where I thought this would come out earlier and then the demons crept in and slowed it wayyyy down. Screw you demons! But on the bright side, 2 electric pieces of comedy news happened last week and I would have missed them had I released on time!

  1. The Onion Buys out Info Wars- Check out their coverage here

  2. Conan O’Brien announced as Oscars 2025 Host!

    The way my heart soared

Here’s to hoping we’re all better off than we think we are. I am starting to unpack my 2024 and… wow. It’s been a hell of a year. They really weren’t kidding about that quarter life crisis at 25. My life looks vastly different than it did 12 months ago. And while I’m glad it does, I am exhausted.

BUT there are 6 weeks left in 2024. And then it’s 2025. Terrified or excited for the the new year, we’ve got just 43 days left of this one. Let’s try to enjoy them? Idk

And in case that wasn’t enough,

John Mulaney is on the cover of GQ’s Men of the Year 2024 issue. Talk about a redemption story. Check out his profile piece here:

I always believed in you, John

Round Up

Things I like right now. Giving you A LOT to take full advantage over Thanksgiving.

  1. How to Weep in Public: Feeble Offerings on Depression from One Who Knows by Jacqueline Novak.

You know I love her. Not to be a nerd, but her PROSE, MAN! This is truly a relaxing read, surprisingly enough based on the subject matter. I rarely feel as rested and delighted as I do when I’m reading Jackie’s musings on being sad. Want to feel seen and entertained and get a pat on the back for being a little sad sometimes? Then look no further! Can’t wait to read this curled up in my childhood bedroom.

  2. David Blaine Parody

I am just now discovering this apparently ICONIC mini series? Oops! A younger Mikey Day from SNL, Michael Naughton from It’s Always Sunny, and character actor Mitch Silpa. Great OG YouTube content. Feeling nostalgic around the Thanksgiving? Heal your inner child by discovering internet comedy for the first time all over again this holiday season.

  3. The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Pod

Ok yeah I’m still obsessed and haven’t missed an episode. This is truly one of the more consistent parts of my life right now and I rely upon it more than I should for my Monday dose of dopamine.

  4. The Onion

  1. Strider Wilson: Makin' Memories

My buddy Strider, with whom I have worked many times and truly CANNOT speak higher of, just put out his new special on YouTube! Please show him some support!

  2. Theater Camp

Maybe it’s because Wicked the movie is absolutely swallowing me in their press tour, but I am feeling SO nostalgic for my theatre kid era (notice my spelling please). Put all your pre-existing notions about theater kids, nepo babies, and musicals aside, while we acknowledge the material ripe for picking before our very eyes. The world was waiting for a mockumentary like this, or, at least, all the theater kids were. They- WE wanted our voices heard, our story told, and our legacy cemented. I am aware it’s a little late for a review, but I just want to redirect your attention back there for a minute. It’s a great reminder to all of us that the ‘weird’ people in your life often provide the best content- so be nice to them.
